Almost the first item in the first programme in this new series was a very relevant comment by a member of the public, that it was impossible to read her water meter as it was buried in the roadway some distance from her home and that she needed to take a tool box to open the lid and cloths to clean the face of the dial to read it.

Clearly accessibility has to be the way ahead if the public are to manage their water consumption sensibly, and whilst a multi faceted combination service provider is proposed, the problems occur and need to be resolved now.
