Yes, to meet water regulations, water pipes above this depth need to be insulated. If you can't reach that depth, you might want to look at our SHalloduct product, which can be used to insulate water pipes that are not 750mm below ground level.

Please note there is a 40mm skirt on the bottom of each unit, which over laps the one before it, to keep stacked units water tight & give stability when climbing. This needs to be taken into consideration when working out your requirements for the installation.

We no longer manufacture Mk 1 & 2 Groundbreaker boxes which use the keys to lock. Our Mk3 version uses toggle latches to ensure that the door is closed at all times. These can be used retrospectively on the older models to remedy any maintenance issues. These can be purchased through BES or Screwfix, attached to the box using self tapping screws directly into the side or door of the Groundbreaker box.

Within 1m of a property boundary, the installed product height needs to stay at or below 300mm above ground level — above that, fire safety provisions under the Building Act 1984 (England & Wales), the Building Act (Scotland) 2023, and the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 rule it out.

Yes. Scraping out a small amount of insulation either side of a joint to seat a 90° elbow - for example when stepping up from 25mm to 32mm pipe - is standard practice and has no material effect on the unit's overall insulation performance.

Use a closed-cell, low-expansion polyurethane foam to reinstate the insulation around the joint. It bonds cleanly to the pipe and surrounding insulation without expanding enough to stress the fitting.

Run the tap for 2–3 minutes after installation to flush any standing water from around the work area where the foam is curing.

No fixed maximum. INSUduct is stackable and can run to whatever length or height the installation requires. The constraint isn't the product, it's system design - for longer horizontal runs, check with your water company or a qualified plumbing engineer to make sure the layout is right for the job.

Yes, in most cases. Because INSUduct routes the supply pipe outside the building at a non-standard depth, it typically falls under Regulation 5 of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 (or the equivalent Northern Ireland 2009 Regulations or Scotland 2014 Byelaws), which requires notifying the water company in writing before work laid outside a building at less than 750mm or more than 1350mm depth begins. If the water company hasn't responded within 10 working days, consent is deemed granted.
